Adolescent Services

Once adolescents start using drugs and alcohol, most are not motivated to stop. It is our responsibility to help them understand the risks and find their way back.

At The Camp’s Meadow Lodge, we know how to do this. Every day we work with teens, teaching them the benefits of a life free from substance abuse and building their motivation to get well. We have more than 25 years of experience working with teens and their families. We know how to reach teens, and we know how to support their parents through this difficult process.

Our Approach
The Meadow Lodge provides teens with individualized care delivered by an integrated team of experienced professionals, including our 24-hour nursing and counseling staff. Our adolescent addiction specialists use a dynamic mixture of approaches to reach youth, including individual, group, experiential and recreational therapies.

For adolescents faced with addiction, a new beginning starts with support, guidance and education. In a structured, nurturing environment, adolescents can develop new life skills and rebuild their relationships.

The Camp Recovery Center’s adolescent drug rehab program uses a variety of proven methods to reach struggling teens, including:

After a stay in our residential substance abuse treatment program for teens, our patients have attained 60 days of sobriety in a structured environment – a foundation they will build on to achieve lasting recovery.

Fully Accredited Academics
The Meadow Lodge is committed to helping teens continue their education while getting the addiction treatment they need. By participating in our state-certified, year-round academic program during treatment, teens are able to earn credits to stay on track in school and work toward a brighter future.

Family Involvement
Relationships are the building blocks of recovery. Teens at The Meadow Lodge build a 12-Step support system, a peer network with other teens in recovery and healthy family relationships that add richness and meaning to their lives.

Holistic Substance Abuse Treatment for Teens
Addiction treatment at The Meadow Lodge addresses the unique needs of teenagers in mind, body and spirit. Through drug treatment, academic success, family therapy and a range of recreational activities, teens realize that the “high” of drugs and alcohol pales in comparison to the joy of a life lived to the fullest.

Body
Addiction has a devastating impact on growing adolescent bodies. The first step toward sobriety is getting away from a drug-abusing lifestyle and negative peers and spending time in a safe, structured and sober environment.

The Meadow Lodge creates an ideal setting for teens to recover from substance abuse. Our patients enjoy wholesome, nutritious foods and an environment that makes it difficult to want to be isolated indoors. Teens get plenty of physical activity on our ROPES course, volleyball and basketball courts, and in a large sun-lit swimming pool. They also are free to enjoy our gym, yoga classes and the many walking trails that line our 25-acre campus in the redwoods.

In addition to a healthy diet, exercise and sober fun, The Meadow Lodge provides supervision by 24-hour nursing staff and our renowned clinical director.

Mind
As teens’ bodies begin to heal from the damage of drug and alcohol abuse, they are able to focus their energy on the emotional and psychological aspects of recovery.

Teens at The Meadow Lodge participate in 12-Step meetings as well as individual and group counseling with cognitive-behavioral therapists to identify negative thought patterns and develop new coping skills. Our staff of adolescent addiction specialists teaches adolescents how to make healthy choices, and then helps them build the confidence to put those choices into action.

Spirit
The 12-Step model emphasizes a connection with a higher power as a cornerstone of addiction recovery. At The Camp, a spiritual connection can be formed with self, family, nature or anything else that gives our patients hope and support.

At The Meadow Lodge, teens are surrounded by nature. Being outdoors under a vast blue sky and among giant redwood trees, teens gain a broader perspective on the world around them and how they fit in. Away from the distractions of television, cell phones and computers, our patients enjoy moments of quiet reflection to re-evaluate their choices and their plans for the future.

At first, a life without drugs or alcohol may seem frightening, boring and empty to our adolescent patients. To help them discover the possibilities, we get them involved in recreational therapies, a ROPES course and other activities that get them excited about a life of sobriety.
