Lorie Gearhart, MD
Psychiatrist
Dr. Gearhart did her undergraduate training in biology at San Jose State. She went on to do her psychiatry residency at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt training program in Baltimore. She completed a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at UCLA. Her clinical interests include substance abuse treatment, psychotic disorders, and the intersection of psychiatry and the law.
In addition to working at the Camp, Dr. Gearhart has a small private practice in Santa Cruz County and does consultation work both at Dominican Hospital and for the criminal justice system. She is a member of several professional organizations including the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the Northern California Psychiatric Society (NCPS), and the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (AAPL). Dr. Gearhart is dual board-certified in general adult psychiatry and forensic psychiatry.
She is chair of the Physician Wellness Committee at Dominican Hospital. When not working, Dr. Gearhart enjoys martial arts training and can be found working in her garden of native plants.
