Dara Yowell, APCC

Therapist

Dara Yowell is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) with The Camp Recovery Center. She earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Dara is also currently pursuing a Master’s of Science in Healthcare Administration. Dara has experience working across a range of behavioral health settings, including crisis residential care, inpatient services, community-based outpatient services, and street outreach with individuals experiencing homelessness and severe mental illness throughout the Bay Area.

Dara brings a compassionate, grounded, and relational approach to therapy. She values creating a space where clients feel seen, respected, and safe to explore both their challenges and strengths. Her clinical work is informed by trauma-informed care and integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered approaches. Dara is especially passionate about helping individuals build insight, strengthen emotional regulation, and reconnect with a sense of identity and purpose.

She believes that healing happens through authentic connection, curiosity, and collaboration. Dara works alongside clients to navigate life transitions, process difficult experiences, and develop practical tools for lasting change.

Outside of her clinical work, Dara finds joy in connecting with nature and the people she loves. She enjoys hiking, spending time by the ocean, traveling, and being with her spouse. She is also a devoted animal lover and cares for a lively home that includes one dog, four cats, a 75-gallon fish tank, and a leachie gecko.
