Agnes Czaja, AMFT

Therapist

Agnes Czaja is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who graduated from the California Institute of Integral Studies’ Somatic Psychology program in San Francisco, California.

Before joining The Camp Recovery Center, Agnes worked in memory care, supporting older adults experiencing cognitive and memory decline, physical disabilities, and hospice-related needs. Drawing from existential and humanistic therapeutic traditions, she explored with clients questions of meaning, legacy, connection, mortality, and resilience. This work profoundly shaped her development as a therapist, reinforcing the value of interpersonal relationships in the face of aging and life’s inevitable transitions. It also confirmed her passion for residential treatment and multidisciplinary, holistic care. Agnes continues to value the wisdom, perspective, and life experience of older adults, which informs her clinical work today.

Agnes’s interest in substance use treatment grew from witnessing the impact of addiction on the lives of loved ones and her community. She believes that the humanity of those struggling with substance use is too often overlooked, and that the people most in need of support frequently receive the least. Agnes considers it a privilege to be entrusted with clients’ stories and their most vulnerable experiences, and she is committed to providing compassionate, person-centered care throughout the recovery process.

In addition to her clinical training, Agnes is a certified sexual assault and domestic violence survivor advocate. This area of work holds particular meaning for her, as survivors are present in every therapeutic setting. She is passionate about providing trauma-informed support and helping clients heal within the context of substance use recovery.

Prior to her career in mental health, Agnes was a self-employed dog walker for eight years, an experience that fostered her entrepreneurial spirit, independence, and enduring love of animals.
