The Camp Recovery Center is pleased to announce the addition of Rawland “Rawly” Glass, LCSW, MSW as a facilitator for its adolescent family program. Glass will facilitate groups dedicated to parents of adolescents enrolled in the program.
“The addition of Rawly to our clinical staff is truly a win for everyone,” said Jen Carvalho, CEO of The Camp. “Parents, adolescents, and our entire team will benefit from his experience and passion for recovery. We are proud to have him work with our families as they begin their recovery journey.”
The Camp’s Family Program brings together several families for a weekend to provide education, understanding and healing to the family system. It is a therapeutic process that guides family members towards new ways of thinking about themselves in the family, opens up understanding and communication and teaches healthy ways of relating and interacting. The goal of the family program is to interrupt family cycles of turmoil and dysfunction as well as increase the likelihood of a better outcome for the adolescent in treatment. The intention is for family members to leave the family program in a more curious and open attitude focused on ways to shift away from impaired coping and toward health and harmony.
The program offers group members the opportunity to break through the confusion that shroud the dynamics of addictions. Participants can expect a safe and trusting environment that supports open expression, learning, honesty and inclusion. Members will be supported to express themselves authentically and to hear the emotional truth from others.
“Addiction is extremely confusing and overwhelming to parents. The child that faces this problem is usually facing other significant struggles socially, academically, emotionally, etc. This triggers shame for parents. The focus of treatment (appropriately so) is on the adolescent, leaving the parents to flounder through their role. It is my privilege to get into the trenches with the parents and offer a hand of support. I get to help them find stable ground to stand on as they respond the latest parenting challenges. My goal is to offer encouragement, support, true guidance, and effective strategic responses parents can put into action,” said Glass.
Glass has been a clinician and social worker for the past 36 years, including 18 years in private practice and as a presenter of inner healing workshops. He has a broad experience base including managing addiction treatment contracts for the state of Idaho; serving as executive director of a non-profit that provided transitional housing; working with various vulnerable populations in adult and child protection; managing group homes for at-risk children; and most recently Chief Clinical Officer of The Bridge To Recovery based in Bowling Green KY.
Being a workshop facilitator has been a constant in his career. Workshops for clients on the underlying dynamics of addiction, recovery, and healthy relationships has been a theme for many years. In 2013 Glass acknowledged his life work of encouraging and supporting people seeking healing and an authentic connection with themselves, their Higher Power, and others by launching his own business. Intra-Connected offers short, powerful workshops for individuals and families working through addiction and trauma by creating healthier relationships.
Glass holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Pacific Union College and a Master of Social Work degree from Walla Walla University, with a dual emphasis in Clinical Work with Children & Families and Addiction Treatment. He is licensed in Oregon, California, and Nevada as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). He was the recipient of the Addiction Professional 2012 Outstanding Clinician Award.
Family Program takes place monthly on site in the Bison Center at The Camp Recovery Center at 3192 Glen Canyon Road in Scotts Valley. For additional information about the program, visit www.camprecovery.com or call (855) 933-4897
